PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies managed to pull off another important win against a good team.
Behind the bat of Carlos Ruiz and the injured arm of Vance Worley, the Phils held onto a 5-4 lead.
Worley pitched six strong, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five.
Ruiz had a three-hit night, pumping his average up to .361, best in the Majors. He also hit his career-best 10th home run, and it’s only June 26.
The Phillies will not have a starting pitcher tomorrow, using the bullpen for the whole game. Raul Valdes will be the first pitcher used.
3B: Pence (2). HR: Wigginton (8), Ruiz (10).
