More accolades are being showered upon Roy Halladay this off season. The Phillies ace was named the Philadelphia Athlete of the Year by the Philly Sports Writers Association (PSWA).
Halladay also won the National League Cy Young award by a unanimous vote and finished in sixth place for the NL MVP award. He was an all-star and won several weekly and monthly awards throughout the season.
Halladay will be honored at the PSWA’s 107th annual Sports Awards Dinner on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, NJ. Tickets are available to the public.
Halladay went 21-10 with a 2.44 ERA and 219 strikeouts. He led the NL in wins and the major leagues in innings pitched (250 2/3), shutouts (4) and complete games (9).
