OF Tyson Gillies (Yong Kim/Philadelphia Inquirer)
Prospect Level: Mid-level prospect
Team: Lakewood/Clearwater (Single-A)/Reading (Double-A)
2012 Minor League Stats: 75 G, .299 AVG, 14 2B, 8 3B, 4 HR, 24 RBI, .809 OPS
Season in Review: Numbers wise, Tyson Gillies put up a pretty solid season in the minors.
But all of that was wiped out when the troubled outfield prospect again found himself in trouble, this time with the team. While with Reading, Gillies was suspended for shouting at a bus driver.
But despite that, Gillies hit .306 in 68 games with the R-Phils, hitting 13 doubles, eight triples and four homers. Those were his best numbers since being acquired from Seattle in the Cliff Lee trade at the end of 2009.
Next year, Gillies will most like continue with Reading where his strong fielding and solid bat will improve. But it’s Gillies’ maturity that needs to improve if he wants to continue to ascend the farm system and one day play in the outfield at Citizens Bank Park.

Gillies (Akira Suwa/Inquirer)
READING, PA — The other day, it was found out that Phillies centerfield prospect Tyson Gillies was suspended for disciplinary reasons.
Today, details came out on why Gillies was given a ban.
Gillies, 23, of the AA Reading Phillies, was suspended an undisclosed amount of games for an outburst on an R-Phils bus driver.
Matt Gelb writes that Gillies was emotional according to a source because he had re-injured his hamstring just days after returning from a concussion that kept him out of action for seven weeks.
