PHILADELPHIA — It was a historic night for Placido Polanco.
Polanco got his 2,000th career hit in the 8th inning, and helped the Phillies to a 5-1 win by scoring three times on the game. His 2,000th hit was a two-run bomb to left-center, his first homer of the season.
Polanco’s offense, along with the spark provided by Freddy Galvis and Carlos Ruiz throughout the night were enough for starter Joe Blanton to get his fourth win of the season
Blanton pitched into the 8th for the second time in his last three starts, dominating the poor Astros offense in the win. In seven-plus innings, Blanton allowed a run on six hits and a walk, striking out seven.
