Season in Review: 22-year-old Brody Colvin had a decent season in the lower levels of the farm system this year.

Colvin started his third professional year of baseball with high-level Single-A Clearwater. In 23 games, 18 of his appearances starts, he posted a 4-5 record with a 4.27 ERA.

Colvin boasts a 94 MPH fastball that naturally sinks. But despite having a scouting report back in 2011 lauding the accuracy and sharpness of his breaking stuff, Colvin struggled with walks in 2012, allowing 4.8 per nine innings.

Down on the Pharm: Quality Pitching

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA)
Record: 25-18 (3rd in North Division)
How the Team is Doing: Lehigh Valley went 5-3 this past week and swept a four-game set against the Indianapolis Indians. Kevin Frandsen enjoyed a strong week at the plate as he hit .333 with an RBI. The IronPigs also saw one of their all-time fan favorites Rich Thompson traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder Kyle Hudson who is currently the starting center fielder.
Featured Prospect Watch – SP Tyler Cloyd:  Cloyd is off to a phenomenal start at the AAA level. He is 4-1 with 1.97 ERA in five starts with Lehigh Valley. In Tuesday’s contest against Indianapolis, Cloyd was masterful with his command. He tossed six shutout innings of three-hit ball and got himself out of numerous jams.

I have my own Twitter account that I used to post on a bit but I got tired of posting personal thoughts on everything. I decided since I mainly use Twitter to follow Todd Zolecki, David Murphy, and Phillies Nation, I figured I would make a new account for this site. Follow me on Twitter @TeamToBeat. If you look in the top left hand corner of the page, you’ll see my Twitter feed. I’ll post thoughts during and after games, short news I hear from other places, and links to the site.

Speaking of Twitter, Zolecki reported the Phillies signed their 7th round pick, RHP Brody Colvin:

Phillies sign RHP Brody Colvin, a 7th round pick. He had committed to LSU. Phils sign each pick in the top 10 rounds.
