Series Overview: This is the final series of the season for the Phillies.
If Philadelphia can pull off two wins, they will finish 82-80 for their 10th straight winning season. It will be a saving grace after their five-year division-winning streak was snapped.
For the Nationals, if they win one game this series, or if the Braves lose one game in their series with Pittsburgh, they will clinch the NL East. If the Phillies manage to sweep Washington and Atlanta sweeps Pittsburgh then the two teams will have a one-game playoff to determine who wins the division and who will face the second Wild Card team (likely St. Louis).
The Phillies lineup for Monday’s game: Frandsen 3B, Mayberry CF, Utley 2B, Ruiz C, Wigginton 1B, Brown RF, Ruf LF, Martinez SS, Kendrick P.
Fans were complaining to Matt Gelb about the lineup and he had this to say:
If you’re going to complain about a lineup in a meaningless game, maybe you should watch 2 Broke Girls tonight instead.

Seriously, the games are meaningless. And it’s not like the beat writers make the lineup. Settle down, folks.
Tuesday’s game will be a bullpen game. A starter hasn’t been named yet, though Rich Dubee said that “Johnny Wholestaff” will get the ball. If you don’t get the joke, then you should definitely be watching “2 Broke Girls” tonight.
