ATLANTA — The rosters all around baseball expanded to 40 today.
With that, the Phillies made their first move of the final month, activating outfielder Nate Schierholtz from the 15-day DL. With Schierholtz’s activation, no one has to be sent back down in his place.
In the coming weeks that won’t be the only player to be added to the roster. Expect a few prospects and returning pitchers to make appearances for the remaining 30 games.
That list includes pitchers Joe Savery, Michael Schwimer and possibly Justin De Fratus and a first-look at J.C. Ramirez. As far as position players, Jason Pridie and Pete Orr could make it back to the Majors.
