ATLANTA — Erik Kratz may have won the backup catcher spot for the 2013 season.

The 31-year-old catcher, getting plenty of time during Carlos Ruiz’s injury, hit a towering home run in the top of the 9th to tie the game up, 5-5. The homer was Craig Kimbrel’s third blown save of the season.

One inning later, John Mayberry hit a three-run homer to left field to put the Phillies ahead 8-5 and Jonathan Papelbon nailed the door shut in the win. It was Papelbon’s 31st save of the season and 250th in his career.

Roy Halladay was roughed up and was done in the 5th inning. He allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out four.

Halladay clearly appeared to be gassed on a hot night in Atlanta.

Trailing 4-1 after Halladay left, the Phillies battled back to tie the game up. Ryan Howard hit a bases loaded single that scored two to make it a 4-3 game. They tied it up on Ty Wigginton’s sacrifice fly to make it 4-4.

Dan Uggla’s solo homer to start the bottom of the 6th broke the tie, giving Atlanta a 5-4 lead.

HR: Howard (10), Kratz (8), Mayberry (13).
