PHILADELPHIA — Another fantastic outing from Kyle Kendrick fueled this win.
The number six starter pitched into the 7th, allowing only two runs in the Phillies 4-2 win over the first place Nationals on Friday night.
The scoreless streak may have ended but it didn’t erase the great outing Kendrick had once again. The two-run homer allowed to Tyler Moore snapped Kendrick’s 21-inning scoreless streak, but it was all Kendrick allowed.
Kendrick went 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three. He improved to 7-9 in his third straight win.
The Phillies scored in the first on a Chase Utley RBI single. Jimmy Rollins made it 3-0 in the 4th with his two-run single and Ryan Howard had an RBI single in the 8th that made it a 4-2 game.
2B: Kendrick (1), Howard (7).
