PHILADELPHIA — The Phillies have officially activated third baseman Placido Polanco from the 15-day DL.
The move was known yesterday when the Phillies sent IF/OF Hector Luna back to Lehigh Valley in anticipation to activate Polanco.
Polanco will also be in tonight’s lineup batting seventh against the Reds. His normal spot in the two-hole has been effectively inhabited by outfielder Juan Pierre.
Polanco is having the worst season of his 15-year career, hitting .255 with a .300 OPB, both career lows. His OPS+ of 69 is also a career low.
