MILWAUKEE – It appears Kyle Kendrick has found himself in another groove.
The right-hander pitched his second straight scoreless start, going eight innings in the Phillies 8-0 win over the Brewers Sunday afternoon. The win enabled the Phillies to manage a split in the series.
Kendrick tied a career high with seven strikeouts, going eight innings and allowing only three hits and a walk. His shutout streak now stands at 15 innings.
The Phillies opened up the scoring in the 2nd inning when Michael Martinez hit a two-run homer off Randy Wolf. They blew the game wide open in the 3rd inning with a three-run double by Domonic Brown to give Philadelphia a 5-0 lead.
They added two more runs in the 8th on Brian Schneider’s two-run double and one more in the 9th on Brown’s RBI single.
