Rollins’ Lead-Off Homer Leads Phillies Past Marlins

MIAMI — Jimmy Rollins led off the game with a solo home run for the 41st time in his career.

It turned out to be the only run scored in the game. Kyle Kendrick pitched seven shut out innings to support Rollins’ homer and the Phillies beat the Marlins, 1-0.

Kendrick scattered five hits through seven innings, striking out six while throwing only 87 pitches.

After the game, manager Charlie Manuel had one request for the reporters:

“I have something for you guys,” he said. “I want it on the front page. If the other team don’t score, we can’t lose.”
