Joe Blanton has been claimed off waivers and traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a player to be named later and cash.
Taking Blanton’s roster spot is reliever B.J. Rosenberg. Kyle Kendrick will move to the rotation and take Blanton’s spot.
Blanton was scheduled to pitch tonight against the Diamondbacks. Kendrick will make the start instead.
Blanton is another member of the 2008 World Series championship Phillies team to bite the dust. In five years with the Phillies, Blanton compiled a 34-25 record and 4.27 ERA in 100 starts.
Perhaps in his finest moment as a Phillie, Blanton ripped a home run in Game 4 of the 2008 World Series.
Or perhaps, it was when he gave an interview on a stationary bike with the Lonely Island’s “I Just Had Sex” playing the background following a complete game shutout earlier this year.
