Phillies Demolish Strasburg, Nationals On Deadline Day

WASHINGTON — On the day the Phillies sent two of their starting outfielders to the NL West, the offense showed up against the 1st place Nats.

A shell of the Phillies beat up Stephen Strasburg and Cliff Lee shutout the Nationals in an 8-0 romp.

The Phils tagged Strasburg for six runs, knocking him out of the game after four innings. Kevin Frandsen hit a two-run homer to start things off in the second, giving the Phils a 2-0 lead.

Juan Pierre, who had three hits hitting in the two hole, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error in the 3rd inning to make it 3-0.

In the 4th, Lee hit an RBI single to make it 4-0. The pitcher then stole second base before scoring on Jimmy Rollins’ two-run inside-the-parker off Strasburg to make it 6-0.

Lee went seven innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out seven to drop his ERA to 3.73. It was only his second win of the season.

  1. Last night’s game was great. Hopefully the Phillies will put some young guys in the lineup consistently from here on out and give them a chance to shine. Phatitude > Natitude

    1. I agree. Use these next two months to see what they have already and who should return for next year’s team.
