WASHINGTON — On the day the Phillies sent two of their starting outfielders to the NL West, the offense showed up against the 1st place Nats.
A shell of the Phillies beat up Stephen Strasburg and Cliff Lee shutout the Nationals in an 8-0 romp.
The Phils tagged Strasburg for six runs, knocking him out of the game after four innings. Kevin Frandsen hit a two-run homer to start things off in the second, giving the Phils a 2-0 lead.
Juan Pierre, who had three hits hitting in the two hole, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error in the 3rd inning to make it 3-0.
In the 4th, Lee hit an RBI single to make it 4-0. The pitcher then stole second base before scoring on Jimmy Rollins’ two-run inside-the-parker off Strasburg to make it 6-0.
Lee went seven innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out seven to drop his ERA to 3.73. It was only his second win of the season.
