Phillies Can’t Back Blanton in Loss

ATLANTA – The trade value for Joe Blanton may have gone up.

With the deadline a few days away, teams could inquirer about Blanton to bolster the back-end of a rotation. Blanton improved his value with his start tonight, but didn’t get the winning decision in the Phillies 2-1 loss.

Blanton went seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out seven. Blanton was exceptional the whole game, but the only run support provided to him was Chase Utley’s solo home run in the 4th inning.

Mike Minor stymied the Phils, going eight innings, allowing a run on four hits while striking out nine.
