The Phillies will turn to Ty Wigginton’s offense for now.
Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco was put on the disabled list retroactive to July 23. A roster move will be announced tomorrow but it’s believed that Kevin Frandsen could be that player.
Another option is Michael Martinez, who is a strong fielder.
The Phils won’t really miss Polanco’s bat as he’s been struggling at the dish (.255 average and 17 extra base hits). They will in fact miss his glove as Wigginton is awful in the field.
UPDATE — Frandsen’s contract was purchased by the Phillies this morning.

He’s fine. He just didn’t want to get traded to the Orioles.
