Down on the Pharm: Pigs Dominating International League

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA)
Record: 52-39 (1st in North Division)
How the Team is Doing: Lehigh Valley went 4-4 this past week and won three out of five against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Kevin Frandsen had a nice week as he hit .303 with 10 hits in 33 at-bats. The IronPigs are starting to get some players back in their lineup as Hector Luna and Michael Martinez were optioned from the Phillies due to the return of Chase Utley and Ryan Howard.
Featured Prospect Watch – RP Phillippe Aumont:  Aumont was the main piece in the trade that sent Cliff Lee to the Seattle Mariners a few years back. He hasn’t appeared in the major leagues and hasn’t had spectactular numbers in the minors. In 2012, Aumont is 2-1 with a 4.33 ERA with 10 saves. The most surprising stat is he has 23 walks in only 27 innings pitched. He does have 37 strikeouts and hitters are hitting .208 against him.
Reading Phillies (AA)
Record: 47-42 (3rd in Eastern Division)
How the Team is Doing: Reading had a horrendous week as they went 1-6 this past week. Their only victory was a 1-0 decision over the Altoona Curve with right-hander Austin Hyatt notching the win. Outfielder Leandro Castro went 11-for-28 which was good for a .393 average for the week. Castro hit a home run and drove in five runs with a pair of runs scored.
Featured Prospect Watch – C Sebastian Valle: Valle is likely the Phillies catcher of the future. However, he has struggled in Reading this year. Valle is hitting .133 in his last 10 games and is only hitting a mere .246 in 244 at-bats. He is only 21 years old so there is still plenty of time for Valle to get it together. He hit .284 in Clearwater in 2011.
Clearwater Threshers (A)
Record: 46-38 (3rd in North Division)
How the Team is Doing: Clearwater had a very strong week as the Threshers went 5-2 including taking two of three from Brevard County and Lakeland respectively.
Featured Prospect Watch – LF Zach Collier: The Phillies’ 2008 first-round pick is having a nice season thus far in Clearwater as he is hitting .302 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs. Collier hit .300 last week with a home run and 4 RBIs. After two average seasons in Lakewood where he only batted .221 and .255, he has really stepped up his game at the plate.
Lakewood BlueClaws (A)
Record: 36-51 (5th in Northern Division)
How the Team is Doing: The Blue Claws went 4-3 this past week with a series won over the Hagerstown Suns. Outfielder Kelly Dugan absolutely raked during the week as he hit .452 with a home run and 7 RBIs. Dugan is hitting .276 for the season with 8 home runs and 33 RBIs.
Featured Prospect Watch – 3B Maikel Franco: Franco is only hitting .237 for the season but has picked it up as of late. He hit .400 with 5 RBIs over the last week. He finished up the week going 0-for-12 before starting it off scalding hot.
