According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Phillies have traded first baseman Jim Thome to the Baltimore Orioles.
The Phillies got two players for Thome, RHP Kyle Simon and C Gabriel Lino, both of the Orioles Single-A team.
Thome hit .242 with two doubles, five homers and 15 RBIs in 30 games for the Phillies this year. He made four starts at first base and nine starts as the designated hitter.
In 56 games, Lino is hitting .218 (45-for-206) with 13 doubles at Delmarva, but has struck out 64 times this year. Simon is 2-8 with a 3.96 ERA and has 49 strike outs in 72 2/3 innings with Frederick.
Lino is 19 years old and was an undrafted free agent. Simon is 21 and was drafted in the 4th round of the 2011 amateur draft.
Thome vacated a roster spot so the Phillies selected the contract of OF Jason Pridie from Lehigh Valley. In 12 games with the IronPigs this year, Pridie is hitting .370 (17-for-46).
