Player to Watch – LF Carlos Gonzalez: Gonzalez has been arguably the only bright spot for the Rockies. He’s in the top 10 in the Majors in all Triple Crown stats, boasting a .335 average (6th), 17 home runs (9th) and 51 RBIs (5th). His 1.023 OPS is also fifth best in the Majors.
Series Overview: The overview is simple: beat a bad team or continue to fall deeper out of contention.
The Phillies are struggling and in need of a win in the worst way. They got swept by the lowly Blue Jays and come back home to face an even worse Rockies team. If the Phillies can’t rebound during this three-game series then the panic button is gonna start getting pushed.
Colorado is awful, and their pitching for this series is even more awful. Of their three starters, Alex White is the only one with a win (2-5) and boasts the best ERA (5.56). If the offense can’t hit this team, then there will be some questions answered as to what direction this season could be heading.
