Player to Watch – 3B David Wright: There really isn’t another Mets hitter as dynamic as David Wright has been so far this season. He’s leading the team with a .382 average, five home runs and 28 RBIs. He also has a team-high 16 doubles and an OPS of 1.077. In five games so far this season, Wright is hitting .455 (10-for-22) with three doubles a home run and five RBIs.
Series Overview: New York has controlled the season series thus far, winning five of the six games so far (all in Philadelphia).
Cole Hamels will look to start things off this afternoon for the Phillies, chasing his Major League-leading eighth win. Hamels hasn’t been beating since getting shelled in his first start of the season.
Pitching for New York today will be Jon Niese, who turns out to be the best arm the Phils face this series. They have a serious chance at getting to Niese, Jeremy Hefner and Dillon Gee.
UPDATE: Carlos Ruiz was scratched from today’s lineup with tightness in his right hamstring. Brian Schneider will start at catcher.
