Down on the Pharm: Quality Pitching

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (AAA)
Record: 25-18 (3rd in North Division)
How the Team is Doing: Lehigh Valley went 5-3 this past week and swept a four-game set against the Indianapolis Indians. Kevin Frandsen enjoyed a strong week at the plate as he hit .333 with an RBI. The IronPigs also saw one of their all-time fan favorites Rich Thompson traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for outfielder Kyle Hudson who is currently the starting center fielder.
Featured Prospect Watch – SP Tyler Cloyd:  Cloyd is off to a phenomenal start at the AAA level. He is 4-1 with 1.97 ERA in five starts with Lehigh Valley. In Tuesday’s contest against Indianapolis, Cloyd was masterful with his command. He tossed six shutout innings of three-hit ball and got himself out of numerous jams.
Reading Phillies (AA)
Record: 24-17 (2nd in Eastern Division)
How the Team is Doing: Reading went 2-4 this past week with wins over the Portland Sea Dogs and the New Britain Rock Cats. Second baseman Cesar Hernandez hit .400 with 3 RBIs during the week. Starter Julio Rodriguez pitched seven strong innings against New Britain in which he gave up one run on four hits. His record stands at 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA on the season.
Featured Prospect Watch – SP Jonathan Pettibone: Pettibone is one of the Phillies top prospects but has been inconsistent so far this season. In two starts this week, Pettibone gave up three earned runs in 12 innings. On Monday, he tossed seven strong innings of two-run ball against Portland. He has only given up four runs in his last three starts.
Clearwater Threshers (A)
Record: 22-19 (3rd in North Division)
How the Team is Doing: Clearwater didn’t have a great week as they went 3-4 with including a four-game split with the Jupiter Hammerheads. First baseman Jim Murphy hit .277 with a pair of RBIs this week and is the team leader in that category.
Featured Prospect Watch – SP Brody Colvin: Through eight starts this season, Colvin isn’t exactly where he wants to be. The #8 prospect in the Phillies organization is 2-3 with a 5.31 ERA. He has given up 11 runs in his last two starts. Colvin has only lasted six innings or more in only two starts.
Lakewood BlueClaws (A)
Record: 16-25 (5th in Northern Division)
How the Team is Doing: The Blue Claws went 4-3 this past week with wins over Delmarva and Greensboro. Third baseman Maikel Franco hit .250 with 3 RBIs during the week.
Featured Prospect Watch – CF Aaron Altherr: Altherr is struggling as are many Blueclaws. He is hitting a mere .171 in his last 10 games and has six hits. He does have 4 RBIs and also has 12 stolen bases on the season. Altherr was a ninth round pick of the Phillies back in 2009.
