The Phillies have placed starting pitching Vance Worley on the 15-day DL with right elbow inflammation and could miss at least three starts.
The move is retroactive to Worley’s last start on May 12, which means he could come back on May 27. Joe Savery was recalled from Lehigh.
Worley told reporters yesterday that he would be scratched from his start and would not travel with the team to Chicago for the Phillies’ two-game series against the Cubs. Kyle Kendrick will start tonight.
UPDATE: The Phillies released an update on Worley.
After examining his elbow, there was no structural damage to Worley. ” No flexor pronator, no UCL, none of those bad words. Phillies encouraged,” Matt Gelb tweeted.
It’s inflammation in the posterior joint of Worley’s elbow. He had an ultrasound Monday and MRI Wednesday,” Gelb continued in another tweet.
