The Phillies could have their full rotation back intact by next week.
Starting pitcher Cliff Lee threw a bullpen session today and said it went well. Lee said he felt no pain in his strained oblique.
“On every throw I didn’t feel anything,” Lee said. “There are a couple of exercises I do where I can barely feel it. But compared to how it was before, its safe to say it’s on it’s way to being done.”
If Lee’s oblique feels fine tomorrow, he’ll throw one more bullpen session Saturday then likely a game next week.
Lee is 0-1 with a 1.96 ERA in three starts this season. In Lee’s last start on April 19, he threw 10 shut out innings against the Giants in a no-decision that the Phillies wond up losing.
Kyle Kendrick has made two starts in place for Lee, earning a loss and a no-decision.
