ORIGINAL — The Phillies are still stocking up on middle infield help, this time adding another player to the mix.
The Phils are reportedly going to sign free agent utility infielder Mike Fontenot to a one-year minor league contract, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN on Twitter.
Fontenot, who bats left-handed, played the last year and a half with the San Francisco Giants. Last season Fontenot hit .227 in 85 games with the Giants.
He’s a lateral move to Pete Orr, the current back up second baseman/short stop to Freddy Galvis.
