Phils pummel Tigers relievers

Roy Halladay wasn’t given the most glamourous of line ups to pitch behind today. Thankfully, that’s a problem he will only have to encounter this spring.

Doc allowed three runs on four hits in three innings of work while striking out four. He didn’t have a problem with much of the Tigers’ line up, well except for Eric Patterson.

Then again, no one was able to stop Patterson today. Patterson hit two home runs off Halladay and finished the day 4-for-5 with four RBIs.

The Phillies trailed Detroit 4-0 until the 6th inning. That changed quickly when Carlos Ruiz ripped a three-run home run off Adam Wilk.

The Phillies took the lead for good the next inning, putting up a four-spot in the 7th. John Mayberry tied the game with an RBI double and Lou Montanez followed with an RBI single to give the Phils a 5-4 lead.

They tacked on two more with RBIs from Cesar Hernandez and Kevin Frandsen.
