Phillies win in walk-off fashion

It may only be the Grapefruit League but the Phillies had their first walk-off win of 2012.

Rightfielder Lou Montanez delivered a solo home run ironically off Michael Dubee to lift the Phillies to a 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hunter Pence went 2-for-3 with a run scored today. Shane Victorino and Placido Polanco each had one hit apiece with Victorino’s being a solo home run.

Ty Wigginton got the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI double to plate Pence.

Laynce Nix picked up his first Grapefruit League RBI as he drew a bases-loaded walk off Pirates starter James McDonald to extend the Phillies lead to 2-0.

Cole Hamels pitched 3.2 innings of shutout baseball. He allowed four hits and struck out a pair.

Dave Bush continued to struggle as he allowed three earned runs in 2.1 innings.

Phillippe Aumont tossed a perfect ninth inning including a strikeout.

The Phillies face the Detroit Tigers on Friday at 1:05 p.m.
