Real baseball is officially back today with the start of Grapefruit League Play.
For the Phillies, play will kick off against the New York Yankees. Cole Hamels will take the hill against Yankees young phenom Ivan Nova. Both pitchers will likely go only two innings at the most.
Former Phillie left fielder Raul Ibanez will be in the line up for the Yankees, hitting DH. Also, Laynce Nix’s brother Jayson Nix will start at third base today.
Notable players not playing today for either team are the Yankees’ Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira as well as Placido Polanco and Chase Utley for the Phillies.
