Baseball America named Lehigh Valley IronPigs manager Ryne Sandberg as the 2011 Minor League Manager of the year.
Sandberg led the IronPigs to their first plus-.500 season and playoff berth in the franchise’s four-year existence. They came within two wins of winning the Commissioner’s Cup.
Sandberg is considered by many to be a candidate for the Phillies bench in 2013 and a possible manager candidate in 2014. He will manage the IronPigs next season.
