Free agent starting pitcher Roy Oswalt is seeking a long-term deal according to his agent, Bob Garber.
“His back feels great,” Garber told FOXSports.com. “He’s definitely looking for a long-term contract.”
This coming only seven months after Oswalt said he is mulling retirement at the end of the season. But with his back feeling much better, the 34-year-old thinks he has a few more years left in him.
Last season, Oswalt went 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 23 starts, his lowest since 2003 due to back issues.
If the Phillies do have interest in bringing Oswalt back, it won’t be for “long term” (maybe two with an option for a third year) and a lot less than the $16 million he would have been owed in 2012 if they accepted his option.
