After having his third or fourth setback a few days ago, Jose Contreras’ season is done.
Matt Gelb tweeted that Contreras is confident he’ll be back next season but as for now, doesn’t know what type of surgery he will need to repair his injured elbow.
In 17 games this year, Contreras threw 14 innings and compiled a 0-0 record and 3.86 ERA. He also racked up five saves in as many opportunities early in the season.
