Player to Watch – No one: Their best players are either injured or traded away. You can try and watch David Wright but he’s so bad right now, you want to look away.
Series Overview: Phillies lead the season series 8-4, winning every series two games to one.
Whatever happened to Jon Niese and Mike Pelfrey for the Mets? Both starters were slated to be the future of the Mets pitching and instead have looked incredibly average, and below average at times. In fact, today’s starter Dillon Gee is enjoying a much better season than those two with an 11-4 record and 3.92 ERA.
The Mets will be without their star short stop Jose Reyes, whose injury problems are miring an incredible season which should still bring him a hefty payday this off season. They also without first basemen Ike Davis and Daniel Murphy, who have both been contributing for them this season.
If the Phillies don’t sweep New York this series, I will be incredibly disappointed as will a bunch of other Phillies fans as well.
