Jimmy Rollins will land himself on the DL with a grade 2 groin strain, reported by… well, Jimmy Rollins himself.
Rollins injured his groin early in Sunday’s 5-4 loss to the Nats. He went up the middle to make a nice stop and throw but came up limping. He walked down the tunnel to the clubhouse and never returned.
Rollins’ injury doesn’t fully cripple the Phils. In fact, it comes at a good time because Placido Polanco should be coming off the DL today. Wilson Valdez and Michael Martinez will be seeing some more time at short and third for the next two weeks.
Rollins followed his tweet up with, “Gone till September………” See you then, Jimmy.
