Dear Joe B, Roy O, Jose C, Ryan M and Brad L,
Please get better soon. We can’t take any more of seeing guys like David Herndon and Andrew Carpenter in games for the Phils.
Even Danys Baez isn’t immune from our pleas. Leaving a pitch in Mike Stanton’s wheel house, Baez became the third Phillies reliever to aid Florida in a comeback win over the Phils. Stanton hit a ball that’s still traveling with two outs in the bottom of the 10th as the Marlins won 7-6 in walk-off fashion.
Before Baez got tacked with the losing decision, Herndon coughed up a two-run homer to Logan Morrison in the 6th to make it a 6-5 game and Carpenter gave up the game-tying RBI single to Hanley Ramirez in the 7th.
The poor pitching performance wasted a career night for John Mayberry, who was freed today. Mayberry homered twice and drove in three runs in the loss.
2B: Utley (7), Ibanez (18). HR: Mayberry 2 (5), Rollins (8).
WP: Mujica (6-2). LP: Baez (2-4).
