Phils, Braves get historical

For those of you currently watching the game, you may be wondering “what the heck are the Phillies and Braves wearing?”

To answer that, in honor of Civil Rights Week, the two teams are donning some Negro League Baseball jerseys from the Atlanta Black Crackers and the Philadelphia Stars. The NLB lasted from 1919-1952.

The beautiful thing about these jerseys are the authentic retro look. Both teams have bright red back-pocket flaps. Both teams are also wearing their socks up, including Charlie Manuel.

Tomorrow, the Phillies and Braves will be wearing jerseys from the 1970’s. I believe that means the powder blues for the Phils. I wonder if they’ll rock the zipper.
