Castillo awful in debut

First Luis Castillo is late and now he goes 0-for-4 in his debut. The second baseman is not good with first impressions and with little time to really impress the Phils, he better start producing fast.

Evan Longoria hit a solo homer off Roy Oswalt to lead off the fourth before Manny Ramirez knocked him out of the game on a scary play. Oswalt was hit behind the right ear by a line drive off Ramirez’s bat. Oswalt has a contusion and both X-Ray and CT scans came back negative.

Oswalt didn’t want to leave after the incident. He asked pitching coach Rich Dubee while still on the field, “how many (pitches) left do I got?” Dubee answered “that’s enough for today.” Tough as nails, folks.

Jimmy Rollins doubled and Pete Orr tripled for the Phillies. Erik Kratz had an RBI single in the ninth as the Phillies only offense.

2B: Rollins (3). 3B: Orr (4).

WP: Shields (1-0). LP: Oswalt (0-2).
