Phils fall short in ninth

Freddy Galvis hit a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but it wasn’t enough in the Phillies 7-6 loss to Toronto today.

It wasn’t a good day for Cliff Lee, who threw four innings and got hit pretty hard. He allowed five runs, three earned on seven hits and a walk while striking out four. He gave up two homers as well.

Antonio Bastardo, Kyle Kendrick and Mike Zagurski were all strong in their outings. Bastardo pitched the fifth and allowed only one hit while striking out one, Kendrick allowed two runs, one earned in three innings of work and Zagurski struck out three in the ninth.

Shane Victorino, Michael Martinez, Erik Kratz and Galvis each homered for the Phils.

Josh Barfield, who is hitting .407 in the spring and trying to take advantage of Chase Utley’s injury, doubled. Wilson Valdez went 1-for-3.

John Mayberry walked in his only plate appearence and Ben Francisco went 0-for-3 in the right-field battle.

2B: Barfield (3). HR: Victorino (1), Martinez (2), Kratz (1), Glavis (1).
