Lee roughed up early

Cliff Lee didn’t get off to the best of starts in Friday’s Grapefruit League game but the Phillies still managed enough offense to take down the Baltimore Orioles 13-5.

Lee pitched three innings giving up three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and no walks. He gave up a home run in the third inning to Orioles centerfielder Adam Jones.

Raul Ibanez had a spectacular day at the plate going three-for-three with a home run and three RBIs. This was easily his best performance of the spring.

Ryan Howard was also very strong as he went one-for-two with a home run. Howard has swung the bat incredibly well this spring.

Closer Brad Lidge didn’t have a good day as he allowed two runs on three hits in just an inning of work.

One player that may be cementing his place on the squad is outfielder John Mayberry Jr. Mayberry Jr. hit another home run today and is batting .300 with four home runs and six RBIs this spring.

2B: Gload (2), Ibanez (2), Victorino (4), De. Young (2), Moss (1). HR: Mayberry (4), Ibanez (1), Howard (4), Gload (1).

WP: Lee (1-1). LP: Guthrie (1-2).
