Wilson Valdez was the only real bright spot in the Phils 7-1 loss to the Yankees today.
Roy Oswalt got the start and was hit hard before being pulled in the third. He allowed five runs, three earned off four hits (two homers) in 2 2/3. He struck out three.
Valdez is competing with Delwyn Young right now for the second base spot while Chase Utley is healing his mystery injury to his right knee. Valdez’s homer came in the sixth, his first of the spring. He’s batting .529 right now while Young is a very good .333.
Vance Worley allowed two runs in two innings of work. He gave up five hits and a walk while striking out one.
