Thanks to a tweet and post up by CSN’s Jim Salisbury, the Phillies have already set up their starting rotation for the first week of Spring Training.
The Phillies will open up Spring Training play with a game this Thursday, Feb. 24, against Florida State. Drew Naylor will get the start in that game. The Phillies first game against a major league club will be Saturday, Feb. 26, when they go to Tampa to face the Yankees. Cole Hamels will get the nod in that game.
If the format holds up through the spring, Roy Halladay will be the opening day starter followed by Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt, Hamels and Joe Blanton.
Other first starts going by Salisbury’s article are as follows:
- Feb. 27 – Blanton vs. Yankees
- Feb. 28 – Halladay @. Blue Jays
- Mar. 1 – Lee @ Tigers (Kyle Kendrick will also pitch)
- Mar. 2 – Oswalt vs. Baltimore (assumed)
