There is one tiny problem with those nicknames. Or should I say, a 6’3”, 244-pound problem: Where’s Joe Blanton?
A pitching rotation takes up five slots, not four. And with all the media fuss over Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt and Cole Hamels, Blanton is often left out of the picture.
Do people forget that Blanton is a part of this team? Do they forget that he was once an ace in Oakland before being traded to the Phillies in 2008? Do they forget that having Blanton, a number two or three on most other teams, is the best fifth starter in baseball?
