Worley, Pen Stifle Braves

The Phillies are making things really hard for Atlanta, who desperately needs a win Saunday to earn a playoff spot. But they can’t even beat the Phillies’ bench players.

Vance Worley and the bull pen held Atlanta to three hits and the offense exploded for seven runs in the final three innings to win, 7-0.

After Jimmy Rollins and Placido Polanco reached in the seventh, Brian Bocock and Wilson Valdez replaced them on the bases. Chase Utley then hit an RBI single to score Bocock and give the Phils a 1-0 lead. Raul Ibanez and Shane Victorino also added RBI singles and another run came in on a wild pitch to give them a 4-0 lead after seven innings.

A run in the eighth and two in the ninth finished-off the Phils scoring.

2B: Rollins (16), Victorino (26), Valdez (16).

WP: Bastardo (2-0). LP: Venters (4-4).

Boxscore.
