Four Homers For Phils Bench

Mike Sweeney, John Mayberry, Jr., and Ben Francisco all went yard for the Phils. On a regular night, the three wouldn’t even be in the line up. But with a clinched division, they helped fuel a 7-1 win for the Phils over Washington.

Sweeney and Francisco went back-to-back in the second inning to give the Phils a 2-0 lead. Mayberry hit a three-run shot in the fourth inning to make it 5-0 and Francsico’s homer, a two-run shot and second of the night, made it 7-1 in the fifth.

Joe Blanton pitched great in his last start of the regular season, allowing a run on three hits and three walks while striking out six in seven innings.

HR: Sweeney (8), Francisco 2 (6), Mayberry, Jr. (1).

WP: Blanton (9-6). LP: Detwiler (1-3).
