The Phillies announced today that they have placed reliever Scott Mathieson on the 15-day disabled list. Mathieson landed on the disabled list due to a muscle strain in his back. He was part of September callups and had made two appearances this season. He last appeared in action on September 5th against the Milwaukee Brewers.
In another roster move, left-hander Nate Robertson was designated for assignment. Robertson waas responsible for all six of the Marlins’ runs in last night’s game. Robertson was signed a few weeks ago and made appearances with both the Phillies and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
The Phillies also claimed pitcher Cesar Carrillo off waivers from the San Diego Padres. Carrillo went 5-14 with a 5.60 ERA in 27 starts for Triple A Portland this season. He was not added to the active roster.
