Overview: The Phillies are 38-20 at home while the Giants are 30-29 on the road. The Phils have won two straight and seven of their last 10 while the Giants have inconsistently been playing .500 ball in their last 10.
Both teams are tied in the wild card standings though the Phillies have played two less games, giving them an advantage. The winner of this series will hold the top spot in the wild card race
Chase Utley will be returning for the Phillies tomorrow. Utley has been on the DL since the end of June. His presence in the line up will be a huge boost for the Phillies.
Both teams feature the two of best pitching rotations in baseball but neither will have the staff ace going (Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum). Tuesday and Thursday’s match-ups seem to be the best duels lined up.
Pat Burrell will be making his return to Philadelphia for the first time as a Giant. Expect a very warm reception on all three nights.
*again sorry for the short preview.
