Player to Watch – Marlon Byrd: The ex-Phillies All-Star is enjoying a very nice season. He also may be a little fired up after Reds Joey Votto made his comments about playing the ASG with the enemy and not wanting to acknowledge Byrd after making a huge late-game play. He’s enjoying what could be a career year, batting .317 with nine homers and 40 RBIs. He is tied with Jayson Werth for the lead in doubles with 27. He’s a career .210 hitter against the Phillies though so it will be interesting if he’s a factor this series.

Series Overview: The Phillies are looking to have another one of their hot second-half runs like they have had in their last three seasons. They can do so by playing the lowly Cubs… The teams split their two-game series in Philly back in June and will now play a four-game set, the second consecutive one for the Phillies… The Phillies should be getting Placido Polanco back on Saturday, an immediate boost to the line up that will allow them to drop Shane Victorino back down to add balance at the bottom of the line up. His presence will also allow him to play second and have Greg Dobbs play third, eliminating Wilson Valdez from the line up… The Phillies are riding a four-game winning streak to start the second half.
