Hot – not a damn person.
Not (last 7) – Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, and Jayson Werth
Rollins – .214 (6-for-28), 4 R, 4 2B, HR, 4 RBI, .290 OBP.
Victorino – .241 (7-for-29), 6 R, HR, RBI, .241 OBP.
Werth –  (4-for-27), 4 R, 2B, RBI, 10 K

Player to Watch – Joey Votto: Votto may play with a little extra intensity this series. The first baseman, who leads the NL’s Final Ballot, could and should be pretty mad at Charlie Manuel for picking “his guy” in Ryan Howard over Votto for a spot on the All-Star roster. The 26-year old is batting .313 with a ,417 on base percentage and .588 slugging. His 1.006 OPS (on base plus slugging percentage) is leading the majors along with his slugging and OBP. He also leads the league with 21 home runs and his 59 RBIs allow him to compete for the Triple Crown. Frankly he should be the starting first baseman in the Midsummer Classic but he’ll have to settle with just making the team. He can still lead his Reds to a division title and contend for the World Series, ultimately squashing the snubbing.

Series Overview: Votto may have a huge series for the Reds, who hope to distance themselves from the Cardinals. The Phillies, on the other hand, want to use this four-game set to give them a much smaller deficit in the East as they sit six games out of first… Cincy won the first series, 2-1… The Phillies have lost six of their last eight games… Philly is 23-18 at homer and Cincy is 22-18 on the road… Scott Rolen and Johnny Gomes are two more batters to fear in this series… Rolen will be returning to Philadelphia for a possible not-so-friendly homecoming.
