Ransom For Bocock

That just sounds dirty but it’s true: the Phillies brought up Cody Ranson (finally!) and designated Brian Bocock for assignment according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox sports on Twitter. Bocock did not get a single at-bat for the Phillies in his short time up. The short stop hasn’t had a major league at-bat since 2008 and will have to wait longer before he gets back on the stat sheet.

Ransom has been playing exceptional for Lehigh this year. The 34-year-old short stop is batting .238 with 16 homers and 51 RBIs in 82 games for the IronPigs. He leads the team in doubles (15), homers, and RBIs. He will be bringing some pop to the Phillies line up that is in desperate need of a spark. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets some immediate playing time as the All-Star break nears.

MADSON SHARP — Ryan Madson pitched two innings in relief for AA Reading yesterday. In two innings, he allowed a couple hits and struck out one. The Phillies are hopeful that he will return to the team and bolster a struggling bull pen prior to the All-Star break.
