It’s almost a sentence to watch the Phillies play these days. Another game in Boston and another embarrasing loss to the Red Sox, this time 10-2. The Phillies have lost three straight and are now 3.5 games out of first place.
Joe Blanton had himself a rough night as well, giving up nine runs in four innings of mediocre work off 13 hits, one walk, and four strike outs.
It was J.D. Drew’s turn to have a field day. He went 3-for-4 with a double and homer with two runs and two RBIs. Quite the story was Daniel Nava, who made his debut tonight. In his first at-bat, he hit a grand slam off Blanton in the second inning to give Boston a 5-2 lead.
Brian Schneider had the lone quality game for Philly. He went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, both coming off a double in the second inning.
Doubles: Schneider (2), Utley (12), Ibanez (11).
WP: Delcarmen (2-2). LP: Blanton (1-5).
