Phils Not Only Score, They Win

It was a frustrating past five games for the Phillies and their fans. The Phillies finally shook off the slump and scored their first run in the fourth inning and eventually went on to win 3-2 over Florida.

The Phillies snapped a five game losing streak and 30-inning scoreless drought.

Kyle Kendrick pitched a commendable game, allowing two un-earned runs on five hits while striking out one in six innings. Jose Contreras battled in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Wilson Valdez and Ryan Howard each had a pair of hits for the Phils. Raul Ibanez’s RBI triple in the fourth inning broke the drought to make it a 2-1 game. The Phillies then tied it up in the next inning on a Howard RBI single and then scored the go-ahead run in the seventh off a Chase Utley ground out.

It’s such a nice sight seeing this team win games again. I hope the trend continues as they can regain the lost ground in the terrible drought they suffered.

Triples: Ibanez (3).

WP: Kendrick (3-2). LP: Volstad (3-6). S: Contreras (3).
