The Phillies got the hits but couldn’t get anyone home. The Mets consistently put up runs and got great pitching from R.A. Dickey and Raul Valdes as they beat Philadelphia 8-0.
Jamie Moyer pitched five innings and allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks. Nelson Figueroa was awful in the eighth, allowing three runs. Not one Phillies pitcher recorded a strike out while the Mets’ staff sat down 11 Phillies batters.
Placido Polanco led the Phillies with three hits while Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez had two each. The Phillies were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position, scoring no runs, and left 13 runners stranded on base for the game.
